Delta Air Lines unveils its 'Ticket Window' on Facebook that aims to help travelers book tickets on the social network. It's an innovative move in a competitive industry.
Businesses and services are congregating on social networking sites. After all, it’s where the world is, especially the youth. In a marketing move, Delta Airlines started a new feature on its Facebook page that will help fliers’ book tickets while doing some social networking in the process. Facebook, as the world’s most popular social networking site seems to be the right launch pad.
Delta is making all the right moves to improve user experience on its online assets. The Facebook initiative that has been called ‘Ticket Window’ is just a part in the larger scheme of things. Also on the anvil is a new iPhone app that will let fliers check in, check out flight statuses, lookup frequent-flier-mile balances, and even set parking reminder alerts. Passengers in certain hub cities can also use the app as a boarding pass.
Bob Kupbens, Delta's Vice President of eCommerce said in a press release
"Unlocking the full power of social media and mobile apps is the next step for Delta, while providing innovative travel tools and greater convenience in our customer's mobile world.”
In the end it’s all about customer service and the bouquet of options you can offer that finicky guy who queues up to get on your plane.
