At a time when we are being told more than ever to watch what we eat and how fatty foods can devastate our health, let alone our weight, Denny's is coming out with a gut-buster sandwich.
According to
Nation's Restaurant News,
Denny's restaurants will be bringing five new items to their Value Menu starting August 24.
Among the new food choices scheduled to debut later this month, is a Fried Cheese Melt. The sandwich is "made with four fried mozzarella sticks and melted American cheese grilled between two slices of sourdough bread." It comes with fries and marinara sauce on the side. The sandwich will be on the $4 part of the Value Menu.
Vice president of Denny's marketing John Dillon said: “The $2 $4 $6 $8 menu changes are more about optimizing the menu versus expanding it. We are bringing … five new items, but the total [number of value menu offerings] will stay at 16.”
He went on to say the new items are “based on consumer feedback and research.”
The other four items that will soon be on the menu are a cheese quesadilla, nacho salad, bacon chipotle skillet, and a fried shrimp platter.
The Consumerist said, "Now if someone would just take two of these fried cheese melts and wedge a burger between them, Friendly's would have some real competition."
Earlier this summer, Friendly's restaurants introduced their
Grilled Cheese BurgerMelt.
The burger is between two grilled cheese sandwiches, in place of a bun. It is reported to have 1500 calories with 870 fat calories.
