By Leo Reyes     Aug 8, 2010 in Politics
North Korea reportedly seized a South Korean fishing boat Sunday in the disputed Korean peninsula amid tension caused by the sinking of a South Korean warship last March 26.
South Korea's coast guard reported the fishing boat was brought to a North Korean territory after the crew were questioned by Pyongyang authorities.
The South Korean Coast guard could not tell exactly where the fishing boat was apprehended but they were reported to be in the area of the North's exclusive economic zone.
The seizure of the South Korean fishing boat comes at the time when tension runs high between the two opposing countries triggered by the sinking of a South Korean warship.
Last March 26, a south Korean warship was hit by a torpedo allegedly fired by Pyongyang which caused the death of 46 crewmen of the warship
Despite overwhelming evidence, North Korea continues to deny responsibility in the sinking of the warship and insists South Korea faked the whole exercise and put the blame on Pyongyang.
