By Cynthia Trowbridge     Aug 9, 2010 in Crime
Mount Clemens - One teen involved in the attack of a blind man has been charged with unarmed robbery and aggravated assault. His younger brother has been charged with unarmed robbery.
Mount Clemens, MI--In a report last week on Digital Journal Laura Trowbridge wrote about a man who is legally blind being beaten and robbed of the $600.00 left from his disability check after paying his rent.
Two teen brothers who live near the victim, Dan Perron, were arrested last Friday.
On the third of every month Perron received his disability check and took it to a nearby gas station and cashed it. He would then purchase a money order to pay his rent and take the remaining $600.00 for his living expenses for the month.
The two teen brothers, ages 16 and 17, watched him and became familiar with that routine according to Macomb Sheriff Mark Hackel. After leaving the gas station on August 3 the teens followed Perron and attacked him a short distance from the station. He was knocked down and beaten with his own cane and then robbed.
detnews.com reports Heckel said, "They recognized the guy had money, they planned this, and they decided to jump him."
Perron was not seriously hurt but was bruised and in pain.
The teens were arrested Aug. 6 and confessed to the crime.
examiner.com reports Sheriff Hackel said the teens were "pretty forthcoming about their involvement" in the incident, and that their parents were also being cooperative.
Local businessmen and a police association gave Perron the money that had been taken from him. Another group will provide him with transportation on the days he receives his check.
Perron said, "I feel really good about this. There are a lot of good people out there and it just makes me feel wonderful that people really care."
David Anderson the 17-year-old is being held at the Macomb County Jail. His 16-year-old brother is being held at the Macomb County Youth Home
