Toronto - Toronto Police arrested one of their own civilian members along with another man after an armed robbery this week. One suspect remains on the run.
On Wednesday a woman in the 6th Street and Lake Shore Boulevard area answered a knocked on her door only to have three men, one armed with a firearm, force their way into her apartment. Once inside the dwelling the men demanded property before fleeing the scene.
Responding officers were able to arrest two of the suspects while the third is still being sought.
Court Officer Steven Reid, 25, of Toronto has been charged with two counts of robbery while armed with a firearm, two counts of forcible confinement, personating a peace officer, theft over and possession of property obtained by crime. He had been with the Toronto Police Service for the past year.
Vinroy Ellis, 23, of Toronto, has been charged with two counts of robbery while armed with a firearm and two counts of forcible confinement.
Police believe that there could be other victims.
