Memphis - After former NBA player and University of Memphis star, Lorenzen Wright went missing on July 19, police found the body in southeast Memphis, TN.
As Commercial Appeal is reports, Wright died of a gun shot wound that may have been self-inflicted according to earlier reports.
Wright was reported missing by his family to the Memphis Police Department after he did not show up for an organized function over the weekend.
Wright played two seasons at the University of Memphis before declaring for the NBA Draft. He was the seventh overall pick to the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1996 NBA Draft. Wright's father, Herb, played professional basketball in Finland.
Wright played for four teams in the NBA including the Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played thirteen years in the league, averaging 8.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game over the course of his career.
In 2003 Wright finished his degree at the University of Memphis and established the Sierra Simone Wright Scholarship Fund after the death of his daughter. Wright remained active in the Memphis area, performing charity work during the off season.
Wright is survived by his six children.
