This Friday the iPhone 4 will arrive in Canada. The first wave of the iPhone 4 in the US came with issues: Holding the phone the wrong way dropped reception for some users.
Journalist
Chris Hogg reported that Consumer Reports did not give the latest iPhone their thumbs up because of the reception problem.
That problem had Apple scrambling to beat the bad press by offering free cases to those who purchase a phone before September reported
David Silverberg.
Canada is just one of 17 countries that will be able to spend the suggested $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model.
In Toronto you can register for the phone at Rogers, Bell, Fido or Telus.
I won't be lining up for the new iPhone but my husband is a fan of the iPhone 3. When the announcement came within days of getting his new phone that the iPhone 4 was coming his eyes lit up like a kid. He wanted it, knowing that for the time meaning he'll have to wait.
The main reason he states is
FaceTime feature. It turns the phone into a hand held video phone. The lighter weight, the display, the resolution and the battery life are all features that gives the newer version an edge he believes.
The iPhone is a great deal for the phone techie. For folks who think a cell phone is a phone it may be overkill. If you just talk and listen or text to your friends spending the extra money, not just on the phone but for the phone plans that are required to operate an iPhone you could be wasting your money.
If you need a great iPod to go along with your phone, a gaming center to entertain yourself while traveling along, GPS for walking down the street the iPhone is for you. If you are already toting lots of hardware along with you for your daily travels the iPhone can reduce that need.
The reality is that the iPhone and other smartphones will probably be the way of the future. Ten years ago no one thought everyone would have a cell phone. The future is here for those who want it.
