Duffel bags of marijuana came crashing down on roof tops in Caddo Mills, Texas, 35 miles northeast of Dallas, on Monday morning.
Local residents were startled as they heard thuds on their roof tops, only to discover black nylon duffel bags each filled with approximately 100 pounds of marijuana.
According to a WFAA.com report, at about 5:30 a.m. the Hunt County Sheriffs department was advised to keep an eye out for a low-flying aircraft. Two hours later a single-engine plane was discovered abandoned near a runway at the Caddo Mills Municipal Airport with two duffel bags of hydroponic high-grade marijuana on board.
The plane which departed Arizona was being closely monitored by authorities.
Although it is not known how many bags were tossed out of the plane, residents have turned over four duffel bags to the local Sheriffs department.
A man, presumed to be the pilot, was taken into custody, but no charges have yet been filed.
Street value of the six duffel bags of marijuana is estimated at $400,000.
