Ten people at a theme park ride in St. Petersburg, Russia, were left hanging in mid-air after one of the cables snapped. It took rescue crews more than an hour to save the riders from the Space Rocket.
Thinking of visiting a theme park this weekend for a day of heart stopping, death defying, gravity challenged rides?
You may want to think again after seeing these video's taken at yesterday's near fatal accident on one theme park's high flying ride before and during and after the near fatal accident.
According to the RT News Agency, Russian thrill seekers on a popular ride at one of the theme parks in St. Petersburg’s on Krestovsky Island were left hanging 70 metres above ground after one of two cables holding the ride in the air snapped nearly killing them.

Rescue teams responded quickly to the scene and to the emergency calls for help that ensued. The thrill lovers were brought down from the ride after hanging upside down for over an hour.
Videos provided show the Rocket Spaceship one day before the cable unraveled and broke. Yesterday, the day of the accident, the rocket is shown while it was hanging from one of three cables with the visitors trapped inside screaming for help to get them down.
An investigation has been started on what may have caused the accident but the amusement parks owners have said that the hot weather may be the cause as high temperatures have the ability to weaken elements in metal.
But this explanation has not been met with much support by the families of the people left stranded in the air on this ride or the amusement park goers in general. One of the riders said "amusement parks and funfair's are usually places where families go in warm weather" so these rides should be constructed to operate efficiently in warm to hot summer temperatures.

Some riders were complaining about neck and back pain and headaches from being left to hang from one cable upside for so long. Medical personnel were assessing possible problems and issues.
Theme park representatives said this was the first incident that occurred of this nature on this or any ride at the Russian amusement park.
The Rocket Spaceship ride will be closed during the investigation and for the repairs. It will reopen as soon as it is safely possible for those of you who dare to take the dive.
