Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been cited for sexual misconduct during a visit with his wife in a visitor's area at the Oaks Correctional Facility.
Kwame Kilpatrick was
sentenced to prison for up to five years in May on a probation violation.
Kilpatrick has been cited in a Michigan Department of Corrections' Major Misconduct Report for having inappropriate physical contact with his wife.
During a visit by his wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, July 4 a guard while watching the closed circuit feed of the room saw Kilpatrick touch his wife's breast.
According to prison officials Kilpatrick reached with his right hand and touched her left breast when they were in a room where prisoners meet with family and friends.
detnews.com reports Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russell Marlan said "Our policy says prisoners can do one embrace and a kiss at the start of the visiting session. At the end of the visit, other than holding hands, no touching is allowed. On the video, you can see him reach across and grab her breast."
clickonDetroit.com reports Marlan said, "I talked to the warden this morning she reviewed the videotape and it was apparent that he did this and it almost looked as if he was watching the officer in the visiting room to see when there was a good time to do this."
Violating prisoner rules can result in loss of privileges. Marlan said he has not been found guilty but has been written up for misconduct.
It he is found guilty the parole board would be notified and the charge would be taken into consideration when he has a parole hearing.
It could also result in banning family members from visiting.
