A list has been anonymously circulated containing detailed information about a host of Utah residents who are allegedly illegal immigrants.
Media outlets around Utah have anonymously received a list of names for 1,300 purported illegal immigrants in the state of Utah. Governor Gary Hebert has ordered a full scale investigation into this list and its origins.
The list contains 1,300 names, as well as highly detailed information such as Social Security numbers, birth dates, places of employment, their addresses and phone numbers. The list even includes children's information and the due dates for pregnant women.
The former director for the Utah Office of Hispanic Affairs,
Tony Yapias told Fox News, "My phone has been ringing nonstop since this morning with people finding out they're on the list. They're feeling terrorized. They're very scared."
Besides going to news agencies, the list also has gone to state officials and law enforcement. This is all on the cusp of the state considering tougher laws concerning illegal immigrants in the state of Utah.
The list was also send to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Salt Lake City. The list had a note with it saying that it was to be added to the list that ICE received back in April and the new lists totals 1300 people. The letter was addressed to Customs and Immigration and was signed by a group going by "Concerned Citizens of the United States."
In April the
group's letter read, observes these individuals in our neighborhoods, driving on our streets, working in our stores, attending our schools and entering our public welfare buildings. We then spend the time and effort needed to gather information along with legal Mexican nationals who infiltrate their social networks and help us obtain the necessary information we need to add them to our list."
None of this leaves Hispanics resting easy as Herbert has issued a statement saying a new immigration bill would likely be passed in January when the new state Congress convenes.
Nevertheless Governor Herbert has forwarded the letter to all government offices in an effort to try and solve where it originated from. At this point neither the Governor or his representatives have made any additional comments on the list.
