By KJ Mullins     Jul 12, 2010 in Health
Ajax - A toddler is at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto following a near-drowning in a pond on his family's property Sunday.
At about 9:50 a.m. Sunday the 18-month-old child was found by his mother lying face down in a pond on the family's residence in Ajax. While her husband started CPR the mother called 911. Durham Regional Police, paramedics and fire responded continuing first aid. The child's heartbeat was re-established. En route to a local hospital the toddler began to breathe. The child was taken to Sick Kids Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Durham Regional Police continue to support the family during this horrible tragedy and encourage all families to exercise extreme care when dealing with water safety during the summer months.
