Volunteers willing to ride a roller coaster in the nude are needed to set a new world record while also raising funds for hospital equipment in one Essex community in the UK.
Fundraisers with Southend Hospital’s Bosom Pals Appeal are looking for 40 people interested in riding The Green Scream, at Adventure Island, in Southend.
On the
i–naked/i-nudist web site, Southend hospital's Barbara Warner is quoted as saying, "All we ask is that each person raises £100 for this great cause and keep other people in rude health."
The money will go toward the purchase of items such as digital mammography machines and x-ray and biopsy equipment for Southend Hospital. This will allow the hospital to provide shorter examination times, and help in detecting cancer earlier.
The
Southend Standard reports that the current world record for nude people on a roller coaster is 32. That record was set in 2004, on the Nemesis roller coaster at Alton Towers, Staffordshire. A video of that ride can be seen on the i-naked/i-nudist web site.
The new record attempt is scheduled to take place on August 8. Contact information for anyone interested in taking part can be found on the
Southend Standard’s web site.
I-naked/i-nude states, “I think this is a great opportunity for naturists to show how much fun can be had at the fair ground without clothes on and raise money for a good cause.”
On July 4, a thiathlon was held in Southend to raise funds for the Bosom Pals Appeal. More than 200 people took part in the event, raising thousands of pounds.
