Gdansk - This weekend, the Polish coastal city of Gdansk is the location of Wikimania 2010. The international conference brings together authors and editors of the internet encyclopaedia Wikipedia.
Hundreds of Wikipedia editors and authors from about 40 countries around the world are gathered this weekend in Gdansk in the north of Poland to hold the annual conference known as Wikimania.
The international event is designed so that the participants get the chance to discuss the current situation of the internet encyclopaedia as well how it will progress into the future. The chance is there to discuss new projects and initiatives. Also on the agenda is a discussion about internet censorship.
As well as discussing the knowledge giant participants will also see a concert marking the tenth anniversary of the death of Polish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman.
The first screening of "Truth in Numbers" a film about Wikipedia, will also be shown at the conference.
Winning the contest to hold this years conference Gdansk beat off competition from Oxford, Amsterdam, Montpellier, Istanbul and Copenhagen.
The conference, held annually, has previously been held in Frankfurt, Cambridge, Taipei, Alexandria and Buenos Aires.
