After weeks of anticipation and suspense, the NBA's biggest name on the free agent market announced his decision Thursday night, breaking the hearts of his hometown Cleveland, selecting Miami as his new home.
Chris Bosh turned down LeBron's offering to have him come to Cleveland and instead joined the Miami Heat and now after weeks of anticipation, LeBron James decided to jump ship and leave Cleveland for Miami. Bosh and James will join Dwayne Wade making them an instant favorite to win the NBA's Eastern Conference next season.
Thursday night LeBron and ESPN hosted an hour long special from the Boys and Girls Club to announce his decision. In the end LeBron said the contracts and final dollar amounts of all three men had not been finalized yet, but that all three agreed to take pay-cuts in order to play along side each other.
This leaves Cleveland with yet another bitter loss as their native son has jumped ship and left the state.
In LeBron's special he said of his decision, "The best opportunity to win and to win now and to win in the future also. Winning is a huge thing for me."
Winning was something that LeBron couldn't do in Cleveland getting his team to the finals only once during his seven years there.
