article imageFirst annual Canadian Cougar Convention in Toronto, cubs welcome

By Andrew Moran     Jul 6, 2010 in Lifestyle
Toronto - This week, the first-ever Canadian Cougar Convention will be held in downtown Toronto at the Sixty-9 Bathurst Nightclub, which features older women and younger men or, as they describe it, cougars and cubs.
According to About.com, a cougar woman is described as someone “who is primarily attracted to and has sex with with significantly younger men.”
The Toronto Star reports that Rich Gosse, who identifies himself as the authority on relationships, states that since older women such as Madonna and Demi Moore have dated younger men, it has become more socially acceptable among one’s peers and society itself.
“There’s not enough cougars to go around. In the olden days when we would do these cougar parties, we always got too many women, we couldn’t find any guys who were willing to come and date older women,” said Gosse. They were too embarrassed to admit they were dating a woman as old as their mothers. That all changed. Now, there’s actually a greater demand among the cubs for the cougars.”
On Friday, the first annual Canadian Cougar Convention will take place at the Sixty-9 Bathurst Nightclub in downtown Toronto. The event celebrates older women dating younger men.
A contest will also be held for Miss Cougar Canada. If she is victorious then she will win a free room at the Hedonism II Resort & Spa at Negril Beach, Jamaica during the International Cougar Week in 2011.
To join the contest, you must be at least 35, legally single and costs $20 to enter the club. The younger men, cubs, will each receive one vote.
The convention is co-sponsored by the Society of Single Professionals, GetInvited.ca, The Works Central, Cub n Cougars and several other organziations.
