article imageQueen Elizabeth stops traffic at Toronto's island airport Special

For ten minutes all traffic was stopped at Bathurst and Queen's Quay in Toronto as Queen Elizabeth left Toronto Island from the airport area. People lined the streets hoping to see Her Royal Highness.
A glimpse of a white gloved wave was the most the crowd who had been waiting for about thirty minutes were able to see as the motorcade whizzed by the crowd.
Queen Elizabeth arrived at Toronto Island via the ferry to the airport at about 10:30 a.m. Monday with little fanfare. She was whisked away via helicopter to Waterloo to view Research in Motion Inc. where the BlackBerry phones are made.
At about 1 p.m. the Queen had arrived back at the airport ready to get back into the city.
Crowds began to gather at around 12:30 p.m. wondering why the police were blocking the road. After waiting for about 30 minutes the crowd hoped that the Queen's motorcade would stop so that they could greet Her Royal Highness but those dreams were dashed as the motorcade sped by. Those lucky enough to catch a glance of the Queen saw her white gloved hand wave at the crowd.
