A woman's son was taken into custody Wednesday in the early morning after his mother was pronounced dead at a Toronto apartment.
Police were called to 240 Scarlett Road in the early morning hours of Wednesday. At the scene they located a woman with obvious signs of trauma reports Constable Isabelle Cotton, Toronto Police Services Public Information Unit.
The victim, Barbara Starkey−Brailsford, 78, was pronounced dead at the scene. Following a post-mortem exam on Thursday the cause of death has been determined to be sharp force injuries to the body.
Her son was taken into custody without incident Wednesday.
Thomas Brailsford, 49, has been charged with first-degree murder.
