Toronto - The Toronto District School Board has canceled school bus transportation in the city during the G20 Summit for Friday, June 25.
The cancellation has to do with the anticipated traffic congestion. The Integrated Security Unit has advised that there will be traffic delays from June 24th through to June 28th.
A letter has been sent to parents of students from the TCBSB.
TCDSB Director of Education, Ann Perron, stated that, “The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We do not want to subject our students to the possibility of spending extended periods of time on buses that are not able to manoeuvre around traffic congestion, nor do we want to subject students to waiting for long periods of times on city streets for school buses that are delayed due to road closures and traffic congestion.”
“This is a proactive decision and while we understand the inconvenience this may cause, the care of our students continues to be our priority,” said TDSB Director of Education, Chris Spence.
