North Carolina man claims Bigfoot killed his dog

By Stephanie Dearing     Jun 18, 2010 in World
Charlotte - Tim Peeler who lives in Cleveland County North Carolina called police in early June to report a Sasquatch had killed one of his five dogs.
Tim Peeler was calling coyotes when the Sasquatch turned up. The Bigfoot was around ten feet tall, which is what most people expect when it comes to the mythical creatures. However, the creature was not dark-haired, but instead had yellow-blond hair, reported the Charlotte Observer. Peeler, who lives in the woods and rolling hills of Cleveland County said the Sasquatch had beautiful hair. After an investigation, police wrote up the incident as a "suspicious person report."
The Charlotte Observer was able to access and release to the public the original 911 call Peeler made to the police. In the call, Peeler does not sound distressed. "This beast, a thing ... my dog ... I've got five dogs ... and I shined a light on this thing but I would not shoot it ... It looked like an ape with a man's face but I was afraid to kill it." Peeler was afraid to shoot the beast, thinking that might land him into legal trouble. Peeler told the police the same creature had returned repeatedly to his home that evening. Peeler is an experienced hunter.
Sargent Mark Self told NewsChannel 36 the police would attempt to apprehend the creature if they encountered it, but they were more concerned with running into an angry bear, reported the Charlotte Observer.
Described as a mountain man, Peeler has said he had seen the same Sasquatch several times in the past few years.
Apparently Cleveland County was a hot spot for bigfoot sightings some 30 years ago, but the stories had died away, leaving the region with a legend. The lone legendary Sasquatch was called Knobby, reported the Shelby Star. The Shelby Star was the first newspaper to run Peeler's sighting, and the story has since gone viral.
Knobby also generated an enormous amount of interest in the late 1970s, and people travelled from all over to try to spot the creature.
Police were not able to confirm or deny Peeler's sighting.
