Hangu - As the big tennis event of the year approaches, kids in Hangu, Pakistan, have taken to eating snacks shaped like tennis rackets.
Wimbledon is coming up and kids are eating tennis rackets? Well, not the rackets you see on the grass court to be sure but snacks shaped as tennis rackets. These crunchy racket pops are rapidly becoming popular in Hangu city and make the kids’ fancy snack with afternoon tea. Their demand seems to be rising above the supply in the town as kids have started urging their parents order these racket pops from the neighboring city of Kohat where they are manufactured in factories.
Hangu, like the rest of Pakistan is dominated by a zest for cricket. Yet, the criss-cross shape of these pops have made them popular more than any other sport item among school age kids. In summer, when the mega event of tennis aka Wimbledon is aboutto start, junk food for kids has literally taken the form of tennis in Hangu. It’s eating the play to one’s full!
