James Gandolfini's production company Attaboy will produce a new film for HBO based on Ernest Hemingway and Martha Gellhorn ; who were one of America's most legendary literary couples.
Philip Kaufman ( The Right Stuff) will direct the biopic from a script by Jerry Stahl (Permanent Midnite) and Barbara Turner ( Pollock).
It has taken Gandolfini six years to get the project
greenlighted, he was originally cast as Hemingway at that time.
Hemingway met Gellhorn in 1936 in a local bar in Key west , Florida
She was a novelist and was considered by many to be one of the 20 century's best war correspondents.
They were married for five years and she traveled with Hemingway to the Spanish Civil war.
Gellhorn is considered Hemingway's muse and was the author's inspiration for his ground breaking novel
"For Whom The Bells Toll".
The project is scheduled for filming next year at undisclosed location in northern California.
