Arizona police arrested two men after they attempted to trade an iPod and high grade marijuana for an Apple iPad to undercover police officers who answered an ad they posted on Craigslist complete with pictures of the weed and the iPod.
Police officers arrested a 20-year-old Gilbert man who allegedly tried to trade marijuana he had cultivated (iPot) and an iPod for a new Apple iPad.
According to the
Gilbert Police Department, Jacob Walker posted an advertisement on
Craigslist.com indicating that he wanted to trade an Apple iPod Touch and marijuana buds for an Apple iPad. He included pictures of both the marijuana and the iPod in his ad.
Gilbert police Sgt. Mark Marino said detectives replied to Walker's posting and set up a meeting for Wednesday at Val Vista and Warner roads in Gilbert after receiving a tip from a citizen about the ad on Craigslist.
Marino said Walker arrived at the location with the items and presented the marijuana to an undercover detective. Instead of leaving with a new IPad the two got a free ride to the local police station in what Sgt. Marino called the strangest and dumbest attempted crime he has seen in his law enforcement career.
Walker and another man, Joseph Velarde, 20, of Gilbert were arrested by police officers. They each face charges for possession and the transportation and sale of marijuana.
