Police in Derbyshire, England are currently looking for the mother of a newborn left on the doorstep of a pub. The baby boy is said to be in good health.
Staff at the Derby Royal Hospital were able to confirm that the infant, who they have named Jack, was in good health despite being left on the porch of the Hawk and Buckle pub in Etwall, Derbyshire on Wednesday night. He was found around 2300.
Concerned for the condition of Jack's mother, director of nursing at the hospital, Em Wilkinson-Bryce said, "Clearly his mother has recently given birth to a child so it is really really important that she is assessed and seen by medical staff as soon as possible, really for her own health."
Also keen to trace the mother is Derbyshire Constabulary. A spokesperson said, "Police are urgently trying to trace the baby's mother as they are concerned for her welfare. Officers want to stress that anyone providing information can do so in confidence."
Jack is being cared for in the children's ward at the hospital where he is expected to require some treatment but to also make a full recovery from his ordeal.
