Blog giant WordPress.com has crashed and then later reappeared. Users were given no explanation at the time of writing but CEO Matt Mullenweg tweeted: “The vast majority of blogs are back up...”
Got a blog with WordPress.com? Chances are you didn't access it for an hour or so as the system seemed to have crashed on Thursday night.
Social media site Mashable broke the news a few moments ago and are still waiting on a response from WordPress as to what the problem is.
Currently people with WordPress.com blogs are seeing the following message:
WordPress.com will be back in a minute!
Mashable have been in contact with WordPress who say that all hands are working to restore the blog service. Mashable also reports that WordPress went through a period of downtime in February and that they just Tweeted the following message:
“We are working on restoring WordPress.com as quickly as possible.”
WordPress CEO Matt Mullenweg recently tweeted: “The vast majority of blogs are back up, bringing up the rest over the next few minutes after we verify them.”
Worried bloggers have left messages on the Mashable Facebook site and at this time it remains unknown whether previous blogs will remain unharmed or whether thousands of users will have lost thousand of hours of work.
