Toronto - On May 26 a large quantity of ammonium nitrate was purchased from a Lincoln, Ontario farm−supply store by a man who wasn't who he claimed to be. The police were notified of the purchase on May 31.
The Integrated National Security Enforcement Team held a press conference Wednesday at 5 p.m. releasing three composite sketches of a man that they want to question.
At the time of the purchase of ammonium nitrate the suspect falsely misrepresented themselves. There is no known identity of this person.
"Whenever there is a large portion of this substance unaccounted for law enforcement across the country are concerned about where the where abouts," Insp. Gord Sneddon said.
The man who purchased the chemical is said to be in his late 50s to early 60s, short and stocky, 5'6 - 5'8, severed fingers on right hand, walks with a limp, unkempt brown hair and eyes, with a strong accent.
Over a period of time the staff of the company discovered that the person was not who he said he was. At that time the store contacted police.
Possible uses are as an agriculture product and has been used in the past as an explosive device. It is also used in marijuana grow-ops.
There is concern about explosives and the G20 but there is no evidence at this time about this. There have not been any bomb threats at this time.
The name of the product is thought to be Clark. It came in multiple bags.
"You don't need a large amount to use as an explosive," said Insp. Gord Sneddon.
