Brampton - A swim in Professor's Lake in Ontario ended the life of a 22-year-old man swimming with friends. Rescue efforts attempted to save the man but failed.
Peel Regional Police say that the victim began having trouble while swimming in the lake, disappearing in the water Saturday. Witnesses went into the water trying to rescue the man without success.
Peel Regional Police officers and members of the Brampton Fire Department made several attempts to find the man, including sending divers into the water, and searching the water with boats.
The body of Adriss Cheema of Brampton was found Saturday evening in the area where he went missing.
Peel Regional Police urge citizens to be cautious near open bodies of water and only swim in designated areas. With summer fast approaching, police remind citizens to be cognizant of swimmer’s abilities and ensure that all appropriate safety equipment is within reach.
