Venus Tastes for Lace at the French Open

By Edwin Manaois     May 30, 2010 in Sports
Venus Williams has a stunning taste for fashion on the lawn. This time she stepped out onto the lawn wearing a black lace with red bustier during a game in the French open.
Early this year Venus made a flesh statement when she wore a flesh-colored underwear during one of her games in the Australian Open.
While most fans frowned Venus' coursit-like outfit, which is a reminiscent of the 19th century Parisian costume, the lace industry in France welcomed her with a cheer. In the last three years, sales from the lace industry in France had dropped according to a finance director at a lace factory in Solstiss in Northern France.
The dropped in sales and lace's economic woes was attributed to cheaper lace products coming from China which has been flooding the market, the director of Paris-based Frank Sorbier was quoted as saying.
Fashion designers and lace enthusiasts are hoping that Venus William's tastes for lace in the French Open would boost their sales and attract more clients.
