article imageMourinho to hold first Press Conference as Real Madrid manager

Madrid - Jose Mourinho, the new Real Madrid manager, will be officially unveiled to the media on Monday, at 1 p.m. Central European Time.
The already legendary and only 47 year old Portuguese has finally seen Real Madrid and his former club Inter Milan agree a financial compensation deal yesterday (Friday).
Real looked to have jumped the gun in announcing their appointment of Mourinho earlier in the week, subject to him agreeing severance terms with Inter Milan.
The reason for this was that Mourinho's contract contained an "escape clause" valued at €16m, should the Portuguese wish to quit Inter Milan.
However, Mourinho claimed to have had a verbal agreement with Massimo Moratti, the Inter Milan chairman, dating from last year, which, according to Mourinho, stated that Inter would waive the clause, and allow Mourinho to depart for nothing, should he bring to the club the coveted European Champions' League trophy ... something that the 47-year-old Portuguese did earlier this month, completing a unique treble of trophies in the same season which included the Italian Championship and National Cup.
Moratti seemed to ignore this reported agreement, however, and things threatened to turn nasty on Friday, when, according to Sky Sports News and other media outlets, Mourinho threatened legal action against Moratti.
However, all was diffused when Florentino Perez, the Real Madrid president, who had professed himself initially unaware of the existence of the above clause in Mourinho's Inter Milan contract, intervened and offered to pay the entire compensation fee from the Real Madrid money coffers - though Mourinho earlier had stated to Marca, Madrid's foremost sports magazine, that he would rather that Perez did not have to pay that money.
All's well that ends well, it seems ... all obstacles are now cleared, and Jose Mourinho will be officially unveiled as the manager of arguably the world's greatest soccer club on Monday.
