YouTube has been made accessible in Pakistan once again while Facebook remains blocked under the orders of the Lahore High Court.
The ban imposed on YouTube in Pakistan has been lifted while Facebook still remains blocked in the country. YouTube was made accessible to public use again last evening, May 26, 2010, after the Ministry for IT and Telecom allowed lifting the ban, thus cheering up hundreds of thousands of YouTubers all over the country!
In a time when urbanization and insecurity are both looming over developing countries like Pakistan, internet users are increasing in number rapidly. YouTube already has become a hot favorite video viewing site, one that could be enjoyed from one’s own comfortable chair and a personal computer as well as in internet cafes in scorching summer heat which does not allow one to go out. The ban on YouTube due to the presence of blasphemous content had no wonder disappointed a large number of people in Pakistan.
With the ban on YouTube lifted, YouTubers have cheered up but many are still looking forward to official unblocking of Facebook, which is the world’s most popular social networking website. Facebook remains banned under the orders of Lahore High Court till May 31st, 2010.
