Blackhawks going to Stanley Cup

The Chicago Blackhawks are heading back to the Stanley Cup Finals. Their last trip to the finals was in 1992 when they lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins, now they wait to see who they face.

The Chicago Blackhawks are heading back to the Stanley Cup Finals and hopes of ending a drought of 49 years and bring home Lord Stanley's cup. Chicago tends to go through starvation for Champions. The Chicago Bulls won six in eight years during the 1990's, the White Sox won the World Series in 2005, the Bears went to the Super Bowl in the 2006-2007 season, but lost, of course there was the 1992 loss to the Penguins for th Blackhawks, and of course there are the Cubs, well 100 plus years without a World Series title, enough said. Now the Blackhawks, who had some trouble in the first two rounds needing 6 games in their first two series, dispatched top ranked San Jose in just four games. The Blackhawks took the first two games in San Jose and then came back to Chicago and won games three and four to complete the sweep into the Stanley Cup. The team was founded in 1926, and Rocky Wirtz took over in 2007 when his father passed away and last season the team finally made it back to the playoffs after 5 seasons and a lockout season of failing to make it to the playoffs. Before that they were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round in 2001-2002, after a four year drought before that. In the end If the Blackhawks end up facing the Montreal Canadians it would give them a chance at sweet revenge as the team knocked them off in the Stanley Cup Finals in three times in the '60s and '70s, then once in the 1930's and again in the '40s. As a mater of fact in playoff hockey the Blackhawks are 4-14 all time against Montreal. They have only faced the Philadelphia Flyers just once and beat them. The team has relied on three lines that are all capable of scoring, as well as a goaltender who is just on fire and playing like a seasoned veteran. In the 2008 season the team made Jonathan Toews as the youngest Captain in team history at the age of 20. Now ESPN is saying that Toews is the front running for the Conn Smyth MVP trophy. Now is just the waiting game for the Flyers and the Canadians to wrap up their series to see who the Blackhawks will face in the Finals.
