article imageDeadly South Dakota tornadoes caught on video by Storm Chasers

Bowdle - Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers were in South Dakota this weekend and filmed the major tornadoes that hit the mid-west states. Storm's spun from this weather band are responsible for the death of one child and destruction at hundreds of farms and homes.
The first severe weather outbreak of the 2010 Spring season happened on Saturday night in South Dakota and Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers crew was there to catch some amazing video of the power of the multiple violent tornadoes that hit the mid-west this weekend.
Multiple tornadoes and funnel clouds were reported in and near the communities of Bowdle, Roscoe, Frederick and Westport. Funnel clouds and tornadoes spun out of control as the storm chasers from South Dakota followed them just to the west of Aberdeen.
The after effects of the storm are still being felt Sunday in North and South Dakota, and Nebraska as large hail, heavy rain and strong winds have been reported throughout the day. In Omaha, Nebraska a 7-year-old boy was hit and killed by a tree branch Saturday evening during the storm, said a CNN ireport. Power outages are widespread from these deadly tornadoes.
Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and North and South Dakota have all been hit in the past few weeks with these dangerous storms causing death, injury, destruction of homes and businesses and disruption of needed power and water supplies and the season has just begun.
TVN Dominator captured the video of the South Dakota wedge tornado that tore through north-central parts of the state on May 22, 2010. The tornado grew to nearly a half-mile wide at peak intensity!
