European soccer, Champions' League final; Full Time: Bayern Muenchen 0, Internazionale Milano 2.
Jose Mourinho has completed a remarkable season treble by adding the Champions' League title to the Italian scudetto and Italian Cup.
In the culminating match of the European soccer season, pitting Italy's Internazionale Milano, managed by Jose Mourinho, against Germany's Bayern Muenchen, managed by Louis van Gaal, two goals from Argentinian Diego Milito were enough to guarantee the Italian side, guided by its Portuguese manager, a richly deserved European title.
The Italians were worthy winners, defeating Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea FC, Pep Guardiola's Barcelona and, tonight, Louis van Gaal's Bayern Muenchen to claim the glory on a warm evening at Estadio Bernabeu, Madrid, Spain.
Mourinho becomes only the third manager to have thus won the Champions' League with two different clubs (he first won it in 2004 with Porto FC). At only 47 years of age, one shudders to think what legendary status this already legendary manager might attain.
As for Internazionale Milano, well, they hadn't won the European Cup in over 40 years ... something which makes Mourinho's achievement even more remarkable.
