Los Angeles - The Poison front man who had planned a tour this summer has been diagnosed with a patent forum ovale, which is a hole in the heart.
Michaels, 47, was hospitalized on Thursday after he experienced numbness in his hands and face and on the left side of his body, according to Yahoo News.
Doctors say that the condition is unrelated to the massive brain hemorrhage the TV reality star suffered last month. His heart condition is treatable with an operation and Michaels is undergoing more tests to try to discover the best strategy for treatment of his heart ailment.
He is currently receiving a daily injection of blood thinners to reduce the risk of blood clots which can manifest as a stroke.
"Bret is up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive"
according to a statement on his website.
Michaels is expected to appear on the season finale of Donald Trump's "The Celebrity Apprentice" airing on NBC on Sunday, when the winner of the competition will be broadcast live from the "Trump boardroom".
He is now receiving outpatient care under supervision of his physicians.
