According to his supporters, Marc Emery was driven across the US border in Washington this morning to face charges for selling cannabis seeds across the world.
Emery has been in custody for the last 10 days after surrendering to an extradition warrant on that charge.
In response, organizers of the
Free Marc Emery campaign scheduled a protest at noon hour in Vancouver at the corner of Hastings St and Cambie St where they distributed free cannabis to the participants.
Emery's supporters are accusing the Conservative government of trying to create a " culture war" by refusing to interfere in his US extradition.
Protesters are also staging demonstrations at regional offices of Conservative Party members.
Yesterday protesters occupying Prime Minister Stephen Harper's constituency office in Calgary were joined by Jodie Emery, Marc's wife who is also a Green Party candidate.
"My husband committed a crime punishable by a $200 fine in Canada, yet this Conservative government is sending him to serve up to 25 years in jail."
she said in a
press release .
Organizers are also planning worldwide rallies in support for Emery this Saturday .
