Los Angeles - It was reported in 2002 that Drew Barrymore was to star in the "Wizard of Oz" sequel "Surrender Dorothy" but eight years later, Warner Brothers says she will go behind the camera for the film.
When “Surrender Dorothy” was announced eight years ago, Drew Barrymore was to play the great great granddaughter of Dorothy but now Barrymore has decided to direct the much anticipated sequel, according to DNA India.
It is still unclear if she is taking the lead role or not. The Orlando Sentinel reports that Zach Helm (“Stranger Than Fiction”) is penning the script for the New York-set “Wizard of Oz” sequel.
Worst Previews reports that is writing a “Wizard of Oz” prequel that has Robert Downey Jr. attached to play wizard, which will be the primary focus in the film.
In 2009, Barrymore made her directorial debut film “Whip It.”
