Newly Sworn-in Nigerian Vice President, Namadi Sambo has pledged to forge a common front with the country's president to realise the administration's objectives.
Sambo was on Wednesday sworn-in as vice president of Africa's most populous country after he was nominated by the president and subsequently cleared by Nigeria's national assembly.
The swearing-in ceremony was televised live on national television.
Speaking after taking the oath of office, he said he had worked with president Jonathan at different committee levels and promised " we shall forge a common front to see the realisation of a credible electoral reform, a sustained fight against corruption and the rejuvenation of the power sector, the peaceful and steady implementation of the blue print for the resolution of the Niger Delta question and the need to enhance effective security in our dear country.''
The seat of the vIce president became vacant when the President ceased to be acting president and was sworn-in as president due to the death of president Umaru Yar'Adua.
Befor his appointment as Nigeria's vice president, Namadi Sambo was serving his first term as governor of Kaduna State in northern part of the country following his election in 2007.
While governor of Kaduna state he was known for bringing relative peace and security to the state which had in the past had its own share of religiuos violence.
