A wedding day turned deadly when a bus hit an electricity line in central India on Friday, killing 28 people who were on their way back from the ceremony. Those killed were mostly women and children.
The local law enforcement superintendent K.K. Sharma told Reuters that a steel "dresser" had been tied on top of the bus. The wardrobe then made contact with the high-voltage electricity line, completely frying the bus, and the people inside.
"The accident happened 475km (295 miles) east of Bhopal, the capital of the state," Sharma told AFP news agency.
It was the second similar tragedy in India in as many days, correspondents said.
Ten people were killed in Eastern India on Thursday when a truck hit a high-voltage wire.
