Sarangani - After having been proclaimed officially an elected congressman of Sarangani province in southern Philippines, popular Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao will celebrate his victory in a joint celebration with his mother who is observing her birthday Saturday.
Pacquiao said he will immediately buckle down to work in preparation for his assumption as representative of the lone congressional district of Sarangani.
In the meantime, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum who flew in from Las Vegas to offer his support to the candidacy of the Filipino boxer, said he will revive and pursue the stalled negotiation between Pacquiao and Mayweather which was originally scheduled last March 16.
Arum returned to the US a day after Pacquiao won the election in Sarangani by a margin of about two to one in his favor. reports
Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum said Wednesday he'll start talking to Mayweather's camp "sooner rather than later" about matching the world's top two welterweights for a Nov. 13 bout in Las Vegas or Texas.
"That's the fight people want to see, and that's the fight I'm going to do my darnedest to make happen," Arum said. "My first goal is to make that fight happen, but we're not going to negotiate this thing in the press, because if we do, given the egos (involved), it's never going to happen."
It was earlier reported that the November mega fight will be held at the huge Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. But the MGM Grand Garden Arena is also being considered as a possible site for the biggest and richest boxing fight in history.
