Berlin - A total of 440 representatives and employers of the German parliament participated in the 11th Edititon Berlin Bundestag Bundeslauf in Berlin today.
The runners included elected politicians and prominent doctors. The event slogan was "Running against Osteoporosis."
The goal of the event was to draw attention to a disease doctors know little about, a disease that is often diagnosed when it's too late.
The most prominent athlete was Bundestag Vice-President Petra Pau, who opted for the 3.6-km Nordic walking distance. More well-trained politicians ran 7.2 km.
The starting signal was given by the Bundestag President, Wolfgang Thierse.
For once, politicians from left to right worked together on a single cause, in spite of differing political views.
