An Australian comic store owner had a fantasy turn real when he and other comic fanatics - dressed up as their favourite superheroes to celebrate International Free Comic Day - nabbed a would-be thief.
Michael Baulderstone of Adelaide, Australia, dressed in the red and blue outfit of Spider-Man stopped a potential shoplifter from walking out of his store, Comic Centre, with an X-Men omnibus without paying for it.
Other comic fans dressed as Jedi knights blocked the thief's exit while Spider-Man (aka Baulderstone) confronted the shoplifter. The Daily Mail
reports that about 40 comic fans were in the store when the thief tried to make off with the comic book. The book was handed over after a small scuffle - all recorded on the shops CCTV.
"I've had a look at the security footage and it shows Spider-man running down the corridor of the shop, grabbing this guy and hauling him off.
"Everyone in the store thought it was a play, that it was street theatre of some sort. It wasn't until I started shouting 'Call the police' that people started to realise what was really happening," Baulderstone said.
