Gunmen drove to a soccer field near the coast resort of Acapulco, and shot five men early Monday according to police in southern Mexico.
Two of the dead were local men between 25 and 35. The other three have not been identified due to the fact that their relatives retrieved the bodies quickly from the field
There wasn't any information on possible motivation for the attack. However, Acapulco is in the midst of a turf war between two drug cartels that has turned bloody.
it was unclear why the five men were playing so early in the morning, but the region of Guerrero is hot and humid by day, so many athletes will wait until the sun goes down to compete according to NPR. Many people work unusual hours in the tourist industry as well.
