Professor Stephen Hawking has stepped forward and he believes that he has at least in theory figured out a way to that would make time travel possible.
Professor Stephen Hawking has come forward to explain that in theory he believes that time travel is possible. The key is getting a space craft to build up speed so it is traveling at the speed of light. What is not possible is going backwards in time, only forwards.
This is Professor Hawking's second theory in just two weeks. Digital Journal reported that his first theory was the existence of aliens and that the Canadian government disagreed with his assertions.
The theory for time travel involves the idea of space ships that are built to go faster than the speed of light and it builds on Einstein's theory that as things accelerate through space time around it slows down.
According to Hawking moving backwards would be impossible, "violates a fundamental rule that cause comes before effect."
According to Hawking it would take take the ship moving at full thrust for six years to attain the necessary spends to move forward through time. Once that maximum speed is reached, then the astronauts would move forward through Earth years with each day of travel.
Hawking admits that he has been obsessed with time travel for some time. Hawking stated, “Time travel was once considered scientific heresy, and I used to avoid talking about it for fear of being labeled a crank,"
