Poison frontman and reality TV star Bret Michaels has been hospitalized after suffering a brain hemmorage. The actor and musician is in critical condition.
Michaels is best known as the lead singer for American glam metal band Poison who were major hitmakers during the 80's. Born in Butler, Pennsylvania Michaels had become very popular as a personality/celebrity in the reality TV universe; starring in the VH1 reality show Rock Of Love and it's sequels. He is currently seen as a star contestant in NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice and previously on Rock of Love.
As a child he had been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and has been known to be a champion and fundraiser for that cause.
Michaels had received an emergency appendectomy last week after he had complained of stomach pain. Michaels later wrote on his website that the surgery "has taken its toll," according to Associated Press.
Publicist Joann Mignana said that Michaels had been rushed to intensive care Thursday after suffering a headache. While there attending physicians found massive bleeding at the base of his brain stem.
Musically his best known hit was with Poison; Every Rose Has It's Thorn. He is 47 years old.
