San Diego - As a package was being processed at the Federal Express Ground building in Sorrento Mesa, it exploded causing panic and evacuations.
On Wednesday morning, a package was being processed by Fed Ex Ground employees in Sorrento Mesa when it exploded, according to NBC San Diego. The incident occurred before 6 a.m.
A lieutenant from the San Diego Police Department said firefighters arrived on the scene just after 6 a.m. and evacuated the building at 9999 Olson Drive. The police bomb squad has also been called in, reports the Associated Press.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries, deaths or significant damage.
It is unclear what caused the explosion, which caused smoke but no fire.
