NDP's Bill 311 faces vote in Parliament April 14th

By Richard Mccallum     Apr 13, 2010 in Environment
Ottawa - Bill C 311, is a proposition by the New Democratic Party to effect climate change legislation in Canada.
It must move to a third reading to become law. A motion in the House of Commons has called for a vote on April 14th for that third reading.
Bill C 311 seeks to create legally binding emission reduction targets for Canada. The Conservative party has voted unanimously against this bill, while the NDP,Green Party, and The Bloc Quebecois have consistently supported it. The targeted votes seem to be aimed at the Liberal Party who have had a mixed reaction to the Bill. In order to sway Liberal votes in favour of the Bill , the NDP have employed the internet to help them using Facebook pagehttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3986306&id=513599219 and even a twitter campaign to Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff http://twitter.com/M_Ignatieff to support the Bill becoming law.
