article imageUK driver blames surprise at seeing UFO for traffic offence

By Sharon Davis     Apr 13, 2010 in Crime
A motorist in the UK has blamed the sighting of a UFO as the reason he should not have to pay a traffic fine according to a BBC report.
The report said that the driver was so shocked at seeing a UFO that he drove into a bus lane. The driver was hoping this appeal to the Southwark Council would be enough to let him off paying the traffic fine.
A spokesman for Southwark Council said the imagination of some motorists was "quite impressive".
Excuses made by other motorists to the Southward Council include: one motorist believing they were entitled to park anywhere because it was raining, and another claiming they were colour blind and thought the yellow line was green.
Although inventive, the stories were not deemed legitimate and the fines were upheld.
