Pizza shop employee accused of skimming $61,000

Oshawa - The owner of a local pizza chain in the Durham Region of Ontario found a major discrepancy last summer in the books-a missing $61,000.
The owner of the pizza chain with stores in Bowmanville, Whitby and Oshawa contacted police when their records showed that over $60,000 had been diverted from accounts.
After the company begin a lengthy investigation reviewing deposit slips and sales from the five stores involved it was revealed that the suspect had diverted $61,000 from the accounts during the first six months of 2009.
On March 26, 2010 a suspect was arrested and released with a Promise to Appear. Investigators with the East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau are wanting to make sure that there are no other victims in this case.
Derek Saltern, age 43, of Yardley Street in Oshawa is charged with Fraud Over $5000 and Theft Over $5000.
