article imageA 'Holy Cow' day for rescued bovine

It was a lucky day for a cow trapped in a culvert, when it was rescued by authorities after its plight was discovered by a woman who was out for a walk.
Davis County, Utah, animal control officers believe the cow entered the underground drainage culvert several days before being discovered. They speculated that after entering the confined space, it became further entrapped as it moved down the narrowing pipe looking for an escape route.
Holden Holt told KSTU-TV that his wife was out for a stroll when she spotted the trapped cow. She called authorities to come to its rescue.
The TV station reported that crews were force to dig up part of the road so the animal could be hoisted out of the culvert late Thursday afternoon.
Animal control workers said the cow was alive, but appeared to be exhausted.
