As some nations around the world at this time experience lovely Spring weather conditions, parts of the United Kingdom will be hit by a spring blizzard. England and Scotland are expecting 12 inches of snow.
Parts of Great Britain are expecting heavy blizzards to cause disruption and delays as 12 inches of snow are about to come their way, according to the
Belfast Telegraph.
On Tuesday, weather forecasters and UK officials warned of severe blizzards and heavy snow in parts of Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales.
In Scotland on Monday, reports the
Herald Sun, temperatures dipped as low as -5 degrees Celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit) and snowstorms stranded several drivers and truck drivers on a highway.
Roads and highways were shut down, trains and ferries were disrupted and about 22,000 homes in Scotland lost power.
“There has been some heavy snowfall overnight, most of it on the higher ground, but it has fallen on lower levels as well. The north will get the worst of the weather today. It is still going to be quite cold throughout the country, but the worst of the weather occurred overnight,” said Steve Ellison, a forecaster for Metegroup, reports the
Scotsman.
Forecaster Billy Payne said that temperatures will be quite “cold and breezy” over the next few days and will be much colder at night with temperatures dropping below freezing as the Easter weekend is expected to have rain or showers.
“It will still be feeling quite breezy and chilly though |temperatures will pick up a little bit. Things are staying unsettled for the foreseeable future but less wintry after today. It will probably be turning less cold after today,” said Payne.
